A TEENAGE girl was sexually assaulted at a bus station.

The 16-year-old girl was waiting at Central Bus Station on Moor Lane, Bolton town centre, when she was approached by a man at around 10.30pm on Saturday, February 25.

He briefly attempted to engage her in conversation, offering her money if she went for a walk with him.

When she refused, he started sexually assaulting her and when she tried to walk away he grabbed her by the wrists.

When the victim pulled herself free of his grasp, he walked away.
The offender is described as Asian, between 40 and 50 years old, with black hair, grey stubble and a studded earring.

He was wearing a blue hooded jacket, black pants and a black hat.

Police are appealing for a woman who was sitting nearby, and who the victim tried to speak to during the assault, to come forward and assist them with their enquiries.

Constable Filipe Howard said: “We need the woman who was sitting near the incident at the time to contact us, as she is vital to this investigation.

“She is not in any trouble, but we do need her help.

“What she saw and what she heard may help us track this man down, and it is important we do so to reduce the risk of him attacking other young girls.

“Alternatively, if you believe you saw this attack take place or think you saw this man in the area at the time, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting crime number 51979L/17 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
