Police appeal after sexual assault in Moss Side

Police are appealing for information after a 21 year old was sexually assaulted in Moss Side, Manchester.

At 4am on Saturday 27 June 2015, the woman was walking along Moss Lane East, near the junction with Wilmslow Road when she realised she was being followed.

A man approached her and started talking to her and tried to kiss her before he sexually assaulted her on Ruskin Avenue.

The man is described as being Asian, in his late teens/early 20s, of slim build, had black hair that was short at the sides and longer on top. He was wearing a black t-short and jeans.

Detective Sergeant John Robb said: “Although this assault took place in the early hours of the morning, Moss Lane East is a very busy road and highly populated at most times of the day. I am appealing to anyone who may have seen this man follow his victim before he assaulted her to phone police as soon as possible.

“You may think you only caught a glimpse of this man and the information you have would not help us but anything you provide could be vital in finding out who is responsible.

“I would like to reassure the community we are doing all we can to find the offender and a dedicated plan is in place with officers patrolling the area.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 4223 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

  1. Women should be made aware that according to Islamic beliefs, a woman alone without a male escort is considered a loose immoral woman. Especially woman alone at 4 a.m is just fair game to Muslims
who very probably roam the streets looking for opportunities.
