More cowardice behaviour by a group of Muslim thugs who pushed an innocent female riding her bike along a canal towpath into the water. The incident in the notorious Islamic enclave Tower Hamlets could quite easily have turned into a murder had the victim been unable to swim and should be dealt with accordingly by police.
Female cyclist shoved into canal by gang of youths while cycling on east London towpath
A female cyclist was pushed into water on her bike by a gang of youths as she rode along a canal towpath in east London, police said.
The 33-year-old woman was riding along the Regent’s Canal when she tried to pass a group of Asian youths who were walking towards her.
Police said one member of the group then “shouted an order” to push her into the water between Commercial Road and Salmon Lane in Limehouse.
A female member of the group then “lunged forward” and shoved the cyclist into the water with her bike at around 7.30pm on Thursday, according to detectives.
As she tried to haul herself out of the canal, she noticed “five or six” youths running away towards Limehouse DLR station, before a passing jogger pulled her to safety and fished her bike from the water.
A spokeswoman said of the suspects: “They were described as Asian, both male and female and aged between 16 and 18 years.
“The female who pushed the victim had long dark hair and was wearing dark sun glasses.”
Anyone with information should call Tower Hamlet’s CID based at Limehouse police station on 020 7275 4546 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
