Religious voters ‘intimidated’ to vote Labour after claims candidate endorsed by holy man
MUSLIM constituents are being urged to vote for a Labour candidate who is claimed to have the blessing by the Prophet Mohammed’s living descendant.
Messages said Azhar Ali had been blessed by Sheikh Bahauddin
The Whatsapp messages, which include words understood by devotees, tell voters the Labour candidate Azhar Ali has the blessing and prayer of religious scholar Sheikh Bahauddin, believed to be a direct relative of the prophet Mohammed.
It also says his brother, Sufi master Sheikh Mohammed Adil Haqqani, has given his backing.
Labour needs to overturn a previous 8 per cent majority by the Tories, and Muslims make up 17 per cent of Pendle’s population.
Lutfur Rahman was found guilty of rigging his own election
We were requested by Mr Azhar Ali to request blessings and prayer from the World Renown(ed) Sufi Master
Sheikh Bahauddin told the newspaper he and his brother did not have a political allegiance, while a Labour spokesperson said Mr Azhar “has no knowledge of this text”.
The messages come as Tower Hamlets elected mayor Lutfur Rahman was found guilty of using “undue spiritual influence” to religiously blackmail the Bangladeshi community to vote for him.
