Two men have been convicted of raping a girl at a park on Bonfire Night.
Toseef Mahmood, 23, of Cumberland Road, Newtown, and Mohammed Sajad Asghar, 22, of Carnarvon Road, East Reading, denied attacking the then 17-year-old on November 5, 2011.
Asghar was also charged with attempted rape, assault by penetration, aiding and abetting rape and a joint charge of aiding and abetting.
Mahmood also denied his charges of rape, an aiding and abetting charge and the joint charge.
Asghar admitted stealing the girl’s mobile phone.
Yesterday, a jury at Reading Crown Court took seven-and-a-half hours to convict the pair on all counts, following the incident in Purley Park, Purley.
The defendants were also accused of sexually assaulting a second girl, but the judge earlier directed the jury to return not guilty verdicts.
Under cross-examination, Michael Roques, prosecuting, pressed Mahmood to consider whether performing a sex act on four men, three of whom were strangers, would be an “unpleasant experience” for the girl.
He replied: “She looked like she was all happy.”
The court previously heard from the girl, who in a video interview with police the day after the incident said she had a lump on the back of her head, “bad throbbing pains” in her neck, bruised legs and a swollen knee.
The girl had gone to the park with a friend expecting to meet three men, one of whom she knew as ‘Karim’.
Instead, she said four or five men turned up and after her friend went off to another part of the park, she was grabbed, forced to go off with three men including ‘Karim’ and forced to perform oral sex.
Mahmood and Asghar were remanded in custody and are due to be sentenced on January 17.
